Mombasa, renowned for its vibrant culture and stunning coastal beauty, also faces significant social challenges. Many children here are orphaned due to various circumstances, leaving them vulnerable and in dire need of support and care.

As a volunteer, you will play a vital role in enhancing the lives of these children. Your responsibilities may include teaching, helping with homework, organizing play activities, providing emotional support, and assisting with daily tasks. Every moment you spend with these children contributes to their sense of stability, confidence, and hope for a brighter future.

This Project is not just about giving; it’s also about personal growth and cultural exchange. You’ll have the chance to immerse yourself in the local community, learn about Kenyan culture, and form lasting bonds with the children and fellow volunteers. The experiences you gain here will be both rewarding and transformative, leaving you with a deeper understanding of the world and a stronger sense of purpose.

PROJECT DESTINATION

Mombasa, a vibrant coastal city in Kenya, offers a dynamic setting for sports coaching volunteers. With its stunning beaches, rich cultural heritage, and enthusiastic community, Mombasa provides an inspiring backdrop for empowering local youth through sports. Volunteers have the opportunity to engage with passionate athletes, collaborate with dedicated local coaches, and make a meaningful impact on the lives of young people while immersing themselves in the beauty and vibrancy of coastal Kenyan life.

Volunteers typically stay in comfortable shared rooms at our volunteer house. These accommodations are often located within close proximity to the project site, facilitating easy access to the school and community.

Three meals a day will be provided, featuring a mix of local Kenyan Cuisine and familiar international dishes. Special dietary needs will be catered for.

Kenya has a few different cellular network providers, for which sim cards can be purchased from most shops or at the airport. Various package options allow for phone calls and/or data usage. At the volunteer House, there is free WiFi to enable you to make contact back home.

Kilifi has a tropical climate characterized by hot and humid conditions throughout the year. The city experiences two distinct seasons: a dry season from December to March and a wet season from April to November. Temperatures typically range from 25°C to 30°C (77°F to 86°F), with occasional spikes during the hotter months. Volunteers should pack lightweight and breathable clothing, as well as sun protection, to stay comfortable in the warm weather.
