Diani, Kenya, epitomizes coastal beauty with its pristine white-sand beaches, turquoise waters, and lush tropical forests. A haven for beach lovers and adventure seekers alike, Diani offers unparalleled opportunities for snorkeling, diving, and water sports along vibrant coral reefs teeming with marine life. Inland, the Shimba Hills National Reserve beckons with its diverse wildlife and sweeping vistas, while conservation efforts in the area focus on protecting the endangered Angolan colobus monkeys and their forest habitat. Cultural experiences abound, inviting visitors to immerse themselves in the vibrant traditions of coastal communities. With its stunning natural landscapes, rich biodiversity, and warm hospitality, Diani promises an unforgettable escape where relaxation and adventure harmonize in perfect balance.
Volunteers typically stay in comfortable shared rooms at our volunteer house. These accommodations are often located within close proximity to the project site, facilitating easy access to the school and community.
Three meals a day will be provided, featuring a mix of local Kenyan Cuisine and familiar international dishes. Special dietary needs will be catered for.
Kenya has a few different cellular network providers, for which sim cards can be purchased from most shops or at the airport. Various package options allow for phone calls and/or data usage. At the volunteer House, there is free WiFi to enable you to make contact back home.
Diani, Kenya, experiences a tropical climate characterized by two distinct seasons: the dry season and the wet season. The dry season typically occurs from December to March and July to September, featuring sunny days, warm temperatures, and minimal rainfall, making it an ideal time for beach activities and outdoor adventures. The wet season, which spans from April to June and October to November, brings occasional rain showers and higher humidity levels, transforming the landscape into lush greenery and providing relief from the heat. Overall, Diani enjoys warm temperatures year-round, with average highs ranging from 26°C to 30°C (79°F to 86°F), creating a comfortable and inviting atmosphere for visitors to explore its natural wonders and cultural treasures.
