Project Highlights

Nestled in Nanyuki, Kenya, Ol Pejeta Conservancy offers a captivating backdrop for The Big Five Conservation Volunteer Project. Spanning 90,000 acres, this sanctuary is home to diverse wildlife, including the iconic Big Five. Volunteers immerse themselves in conservation efforts amidst picturesque landscapes, from open savannas to lush forests, under the guidance of experienced conservationists. Beyond its natural beauty, Ol Pejeta’s commitment to innovation and community engagement fosters a transformative experience, where volunteers contribute to safeguarding endangered species and their habitats. Join us in this conservation journey at Ol Pejeta Conservancy, where passion meets purpose, and every effort makes a tangible difference in wildlife conservation.

Volunteers typically stay in comfortable shared rooms at our volunteer house. These accommodations are often located within close proximity to the project site, facilitating easy access to the school and community.

Three meals a day will be provided, featuring a mix of local Kenyan Cuisine and familiar international dishes. Special dietary needs will be catered for.

Kenya has a few different cellular network providers, for which sim cards can be purchased from most shops or at the airport. Various package options allow for phone calls and/or data usage. At the volunteer House, there is free WiFi to enable you to make contact back home.

Ol Pejeta Conservancy, situated in Nanyuki, Kenya, boasts a diverse climate reflective of its varied landscapes. Characterized by a semi-arid climate, the region experiences distinct wet and dry seasons. During the dry season, which typically spans from June to October, temperatures soar, and rainfall is minimal, creating arid conditions. Conversely, the wet season, from November to May, brings cooler temperatures and sporadic rainfall, rejuvenating the landscape and supporting lush vegetation. This climatic diversity contributes to Ol Pejeta’s rich biodiversity, offering volunteers a dynamic and ever-changing environment to engage in wildlife conservation efforts.

• Minimum Age: 18 • Maximum Age: None • Qualification Required: Criminal Offenses Certificate • Participants under 18 must be accompanied by parents. • Adaptability, humility and respect for customs are needed.
