Teaching & Child Care
If you share our passion for education, our volunteer teaching programs in Kenya provide an excellent opportunity to combine meaningful work with an adventurous travel experience. Over the years, Volunteer Safari Initiative has partnered with various foster care homes and public primary schools in Kenya, providing support through childcare volunteer work. Our teaching volunteers collaborate with local school teachers, assisting with entry-level classes for young children and special activities for adult learners. Beyond providing short-term benefits to these communities, your role as a teaching volunteer in Kenya will create real and measurable change, contributing to our mission of maintaining sustainable development.
Whether you are passionate about early childhood education, adult education, or community development, volunteering in Kenya with the Volunteer Safari Initiative will be a fulfilling and impactful experience. Join us in our mission to empower local communities through education and create a brighter future for all.
Volunteer Teaching Highlights
Enhance Accessibility:
Provide quality education to children in pre-schools or primary schools within under-resourced communities in Kenya. Your efforts will help bridge the gap in educational opportunities for these young learners.
Positive Connections:
Foster a safe and supportive learning environment for children from low-income backgrounds. Your presence as a volunteer teacher can make a significant difference in their educational journey and personal growth.
Personalized Attention:
Offer one-on-one support to children who otherwise might not receive individual attention. This personalized interaction can greatly enhance their learning experience and development.
Spark Creativity:
Engage and inspire children through creative activities such as games, crafts, and sports. By activating their minds and imaginations, you contribute to their holistic development.
What Will I Be Teaching in Classes?
What you teach will vary depending on the specific project and the age group of your students. Most of our volunteer teaching programs focus on English conversation and language skills.
However, there are opportunities to teach a variety of other subjects, including science, math, history, geography, nutrition, reading, computer skills, and sports.
If you’d like to bring teaching materials, you’re welcome to do so. Items such as picture cards, workbooks, pencils, and stickers are highly appreciated by the children and can enhance their learning experience.
You’ll have the chance to use a range of teaching methods, including games, singing, group work, role-playing, and exercises. This variety keeps the lessons engaging and helps cater to different learning styles.
