Welcome to Volunteer Safari Initiative (VSI)
Our Story
In the heart of Kenya’s coastal city of Mombasa, amidst the culturally diverse people of coastal region, the idea for the Volunteer Safari Initiative (VSI) was born. It all began with a shared passion for travel, a deep respect for nature, and a desire to make a difference in the world.
Our founders, a diverse group of Travel professionals, adventurers, conservationists, and community activists, came together with a common vision: to harness the transformative power of travel to create positive change in Kenya and beyond. Drawing inspiration from their own experiences exploring the country’s breathtaking landscapes, vibrant cultures, and majestic wildlife, they set out to create an organization that would not only provide travelers with unforgettable experiences but also empower them to become stewards of the planet.
From the outset, sustainability and responsibility were at the forefront of our mission. We recognized that travel, when done thoughtfully and ethically, has the power to uplift communities, protect ecosystems, and promote cross-cultural understanding. With this in mind, we set about designing volunteer programs that would allow travelers to immerse themselves in the beauty and diversity of Africa while actively contributing to conservation efforts, community development projects, and cultural exchange initiatives.
Over the years, our organization has grown and evolved, but our commitment to our core values remains unwavering. We believe in the power of collaboration, the importance of sustainability, and the value of inclusivity. We strive to create meaningful and enriching experiences for our volunteers, while also making a positive impact on the communities and environments we work with.
